Upgrades
Keeping up is the name of the game when it comes to the computer industry. If' you've been holding out on getting that sound card or CD-ROM I think you'll find that you're missing out on most programs out there today.
If you're surfing the net with only 16 colors you may as well just be reading plain text. Today's WWW is a jungle of colors sounds video and music. In order to experience it you need a beefy computer. At least a 486 133 with a minimum of a 1.2 gig drive and 16 megs of RAM running Windows 95 and internet explorer in 16.7 million colors at 1024x768 resolution and a soundblaster.
You need a 33.6K bps modem or better if you want to keep from tearing your hair out while loading a web page.
If you find your computer is inadequate for surfing the web, maybe it's time to make that trip to your local computer store. But before you pay someone $80 to install your new hard drive, see if you can't do it yourself. And if not, ask me if I'll do it for $60. If I'm not too busy (yeah right!) and you're local to Seattle I might be willing to help you out.
