The Crawling Eye

Theater Rating:

Host Segment Rating:

Indoctrinationability: Poor

Episode: The first season episodes cannot really compare with the later ones because there were very few writers and the budget was very poor. So in the interest of fairness I'll rate the first and second season episodes in the context of those seasons. In which case this was an average episode, pretty funny, sometimes confusing.

Movie: It all starts with a couple of mountain climbers, they're pulling up one of their buddies with a rope, when he gets to the top, he has no head! Cut to a train where a couple of women are traveling along with a scientist. All of the sudden, one of the women (Who's a psychic) changes their plans and decides to get off at the Ski Resort where those weird decapitations are happening. It turns out to be the work of these giant eyes who live in clouds. MST 3K brings a new meaning to Vitreous Humor.

Invention Exchange: Joel invents electric bagpipes.

Dr. F. comes up with an anti-perspirant made from canine DNA, it works but it makes the subject pant.

Host Segments: The bots are wondering what the big deal is about decapitation, when they lose their heads Joel can simply put them back on again. Joel explains that it's different with humans, they can't just re-attach their heads.

Gypsy has uncoiled herself and she's all over the ship, worst of all she's got an itch.

Crow and Tom can't seem to understand why an eye is so scary. Joel explains to them that anytime a human appendage grows to hundreds of times it's normal size and gets a life of it's own it's pretty scary.

Joel gives the bots Ramchips for saying a good thing and a bad thing about the movie. Servo says the movie lacked vision.

Book: Kevin Murphy reflects on the begining of their run on The Comedy Channel. There was joy, there was fun, there were concerts in the park.. people seemed to laugh more back then.

Favorite Lines: The Crawling eye grabs a little kid with it's optic nerve and is dragging her towards him.

Tom: He's got a lot of nerve!

Personal Experience: This was kind of a neat episode to watch. Joel notes that the Mads had to move to Deep 13 because they were fired from Gizmonic Institute for firing him up into space.
