     Carole Jean Hanson was born on 26 October 1938 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota.1 She was the daughter of Albert Hanson and Judith Muriel Jurgenson.1 Carole Jean Hanson died on 9 January 1998 at Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa, at age 59 of breast cancer.1,2
     "Carole was a tenured professor in the Recreation/Leisure Studies Department at The University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls. In the fall of 1990 she spent her sabbatical at the University of Oregon, so we got re-acquainted, to the delight of both of us. Both of us have degrees in recreation, and we shared an interest in music.

In January of 1993, she had a hip replaced. She had suffered from breast cancer and thought she was recovered, but in 1997 the cancer returned." -- Betty Stewart.3
