"When I was a child, Karen sent me a card with 'sparkles' on it and I always wanted to meet her. We took the boat to Stryn and she met us at the dock, saying, "Du Alma, du Alma!" and threw her arms around me. While we were there she told us stories about her life during the war and how the German soldiers used to tease her and how frightened she was by them. For the midsummer festival she let me wear her "dragt" (costume). It got cold by midnight and I was very glad to have that warm dress on." -- Grønevik, Alma Henden Stewart (1987).2
